Pasig church opens exhibit of Blessed Virgin Mary


The Museo Diocesano de Pasig opened on Sunday, April 30, an exhibit featuring the various images of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in Pasig City.

The opening ceremony was attended by Museum Director Peter Reyes, Heritage and Cultural Head Reverend Fr. Roy Rosales, other priests and lay persons from the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral and church groups.

On behalf of the local government, Pasig City Councilor Quin Cruz also graced the event, along with Taguig City Councilor Marisse Balina-Eron.

The exhibit, titled “Maria, Sanhi ng Aming Tuwa at Saya,” displays numerous “representations and expressions of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary from different parts of the country and the world,” as stated on the museum’s social media page.

Some of the Marian images that can be seen here are the La Naval de Manila, Niña Maria, Dolorosa del Bacolor, Virgen de Porta Vaga, Virgen Gloriosa, Our Lady of Light, Our Lady of Lourdes, Remedios de Pampanga, La Madonna, Maria Stella Matutina and the Immaculate Conception herself.

Aside from statues, the exhibit also features framed portraits of Mary, as well as photos of past images and altars dedicated to Mary in history.

Some relics and samples of vestments worn in Marian representations were also featured, enclosed in glass cases for viewing.

The exhibit will run from May 1 until July 2, coinciding with the celebration of Pasig Day or “Araw ng Pasig.”

It is open to the public on Wednesdays to Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
