BACOLOD CITY – Seventy people were arrested as police raided an illegal cockfighting or “tupada” at the Hacienda Margarita in Barangay San Isidro, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental on Saturday, April 29.

Thirty of them are residents of E.B. Magalona while the 40 others are residents of Victorias City, according to the police. Their age ranges from 21 to 77-years-old. Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said that policemen recovered a live wounded fighting cock, two live fighting cocks, 15 dead fighting cocks, four gaffs, and P2,948 bet money during the raid. Catalogo said these individuals had no permit to conduct the cockfighting activity. Policemen are preparing the regular filing of cases against the arrested, according to Catalogo.
