ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 (Western Visayas) is stepping up intelligence gathering after three suspected Indian terrorists were arrested in March.
“We will beef up our intelligence monitoring through inter-agency collaboration,” said Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, PRO-6 chief.
The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), an attached agency of the Department of Information and Technology (DICT), on March 27 announced the arrests of three members of the Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF)
listed as a terrorist organization by the Indian government – 23-year-old Manpreet Singh, 24-yearold Amritpal Singh, and 26-year-old Arshdeep Singh.
The CICC conducted the operation against the suspects with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Military Intelligence Group.
The JKGF is believed to be involved in terror attacks, narcotics trading, and weapons smuggling.
Even without the participation of the PNP, Francisco said they will work with partner government agencies and even the public against terrorism.
“We need the public’s support to do this. We encourage everyone to report to the nearest PNP unit any suspicious activities. Let us join hands in keeping Western Visayas safe to live, work, and do business,” Francisco said.
Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the PRO-6 cybercrime unit can also help in any future operations.
