A British ministry official has concluded her trip to the Philippines with hopes that the partnership between London and Manila will further strengthen amid various demands of time.
United Kingdom (UK) Minister for Indo-Pacific Anne-Marie Trevelyan said she was delighted to visit the country as she noticed how the Philippines and UK are working together in pursuit of shared values.
With the launch of the UK-Philippines Enhanced Partnership a year ago, Trevelyan said the governments of both countries "have agreed to strengthen it further."
In particular, London and Manila felt the need to do more together on development, climate and security through investment partnerships.
"We will mobilize more financing to support sustainable infrastructure development and accelerate the transition to clean energy," Trevelyan said in a video message on Monday night.
While both countries are now working on many areas—from trade and development to cybersecurity to pandemic preparedness—she asserted "there is so much that we can do together."
"And I look forward to enhancing and expanding our collaboration even further," she said.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo said Trevelyan's visit allowed both countries to strengthen their commitment for partnership, which the latter described as "thriving."
