BAGGAO, Cagayan – The military discovered a New People’s Army arms cache here on Monday, April 3, through information provided by two former communist guerrillas.
Unearthed were two Bushmaster and two M16A1 rifles which are now in the custody of the headquarters of the 501st Infantry Brigade in Lal-lo, this province.
The informants who were in a series of encounters in this province with the military had earlier surrendered to the government due to the difficult life of an NPA fighter.
They are now under custodial debriefing and due for enrollment in the E-CLIP program and receipt of firearms renumeration.
The 501st IBde encouraged other NPA rebels to return to the fold of the law.
It said there are multiple avenues for surrender and the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police will not stop scouring the hinterlands of Cagayan to force the NPA to lay down their arms.
