Several artworks painted by Mindanao visual artists have been put on display at Manila Clock Tower (MCT), Ermita, Manila. The exhibit, which started on Monday, April 3, features "Tore sa Kaalam" and "Tore sa Kinaadman" painted by Mindanao prolific artist Kublai Millan and members of Lunang, a Davao-based art mentoring program. "We, in Mindanao, have something to share with the rest of the country, and that is our connection to the soil, the land, environment, people," Millan stated. He said Lunang mentors and mentees aim to share the knowledge and wisdom of Mindanaoans through art exhibitions. Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna congratulated Millan and 24 other Davaoeño artists who traveled to Manila to present their art pieces. "This will be a good opportunity for us to manifest the principle and image that we wanted the Manila Clock Tower museum to have as we pursue the vision in Manila, not only as trade and industry capital but a country's premiere tourist destination and center of Philippine arts and culture," the mayor expressed. "We will assure you of our continued support as we collaborate today for arts, a potent medium for social change. The doors of the city will always be open to you," she added. The city government said Millan's artworks will be displayed on the second floor of MCT, while artworks of other Mindanao visual artists will be showcased on the museum's third floor. It added that the exhibit is open to the public until June 2.
