Mayor Vico, gov't officials visit Dr. Pio Valenzuela Museum
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and other local and national government officials visited the Museum of Dr. Pio Valenzuela in Valenzuela City on Saturday, April 1.
The mayor was joined by former Energy Secretary Vince Perez and some of the descendants of Dr. Pio Valenzuela himself.
The heirs included former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and his wife, Lovely Romulo; Pasig City Congressman Roman Romulo and his wife, former Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad-Romulo; Mons Romulo and her son, incumbent Pasig City Councilor Simon Romulo Tantoco.
They were given a guided tour of the facility by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

The Dr. Pio Valenzuela Museum is the renovated ancestral home of the prolific member of the Katipunan, whose contributions as a physician and politician aided in the revolutions during the Spanish and American occupations. The museum houses some of Valenzuela’s possessions and written works, as well as artworks highlighting his lifelong achievements as a major historical figure. The museum, located in Barangay Pariancillo Villa in Valenzuela City, was [inaugurated last Feb. 14 by City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian](https://mb.com.ph/2023/02/15/mayor-wes-inaugurates-pio-valenzuela-museum/). Mayor Sotto thanked Gatchalian for his warm welcome to one of Valenzuela City’s cultural landmarks. "May the life of Dr. Pio Valenzuela continue to serve as an inspiration to us all. Congratulations to the people of Valenzuela for this successful museum," Sotto said during his visit.

The mayor said the visit was also an informal benchmarking activity since the Pasig local government is currently renovating the Pasig Museum or Concepcion Mansion. The Pasig Museum, located in Plaza Rizal in Barangay San Jose, was owned by Don Fortunato Cabrera Concepcion who served as the mayor of Pasig from 1918 to 1921. The heritage site was transformed into a venue for artworks, objects, and other collections showcasing the rich history of the city. The museum also serves as a venue for exhibits, conferences, art workshops, sessions, and courses for young learners.
