Man arrested for stealing telephone cables in Valenzuela
A man was nabbed by operatives of the Valenzuela City Police after he and his cohort were spotted stealing telephone cables in Barangay Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City Monday, April 3.
Police identified the suspect as Reynald Aguado Leonardo, 31, a resident of Barangay Bagbaguin in Caloocan City.
According to the police, Leonardo was arrested in an anti-criminality operation conducted by policemen of Sub-Station 8.
During the operation, the suspect and his unidentified cohort were caught red-handed cutting telephone wires from an electric post, prompting the police to chase them. However, only Leonardo was successfully caught after his accomplice climbed over a wall and escaped with a hacksaw they used in cutting wires.
Upon frisking Leonardo, the police recovered from him an improvised handgun.
They also recovered the suspect's motorcycle, ammunition for the improvised handgun, two copper cable wires measuring 5 meters long each with a total worth of P53,805, and assorted electrical wires.
Leonardo is now facing charges of theft and violation of R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Police are still conducting a manhunt operation against his accomplice.
