Kai Sotto and the Hiroshima Dragonflies repeated over the visiting Matthew Wright and the Kyoto Hannaryz with another 76-63 victory in the Japan B.League on Sunday, April 2.
The Filipino import dropped 14 points in their 92-76 win a day prior, before flirting with a double-double performance of 11 markers on a decent 50-percent efficiency to go along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
With the win, the Dragonflies improved with a 35-12 record to tie with the Alavark Tokyo at fourth in the standings.
Meanwhile, Wright finished with 14 points apart from three boards, two assists and three steals in the losing effort following a lackluster showing the previous day.
Hiroshima relied on its 20-8 first quarter finish for an early comfortable double-digit lead over Kyoto.
However, the Hannaryz found themselves within a single digit possession after pulling within three, 44-41, midway through the third.
But it was the last time Kyoto came close to Hiroshima as the latter pulled away in the final quarter to seal its fourth straight win.
Elsewhere, Carl Tamayo and the Ryukyu Golden Kings squeaked past the league’s top seed Chiba Jets, 78-76.
The former UP Fighting Maroon standout went scoreless in the tight victory after playing for only two minutes.
Ray Parks Jr. and the Nagoya Dolphins hacked out a 70-61 triumph over the Akita Northen Happinets to climb 34-13 at the sixth spot behind Hiroshima in the standings.
The Golden Kings climbed 37-10 in the standings at the third spot, securing a B.League playoff berth in the process.
In another play, Thirdy Ravena and the San-En Phoenix fell at the hands of the Toyoma Grouses, 81-66.
In a similar setback, Kiefer Ravena’s Shiga Lakes couldn’t extend their four-game winning streak after a 93-84 beating from the Yokohama B-Corsairs.
Kiefer dropped a decent 15-point performance including five assists in the loss as they absorbed a 10-37 card.
Dwight Ramos and the Leavanga Hokkaido suffered a n 85-77 setback against the Niigata Albirex BB.
Ramos posted 10 points and three steals as Hokkaido now stands at a 13-34 record in the tournament.
