Cebu Ports Authority issues reminders for hassle-free travel this Holy Week
CEBU CITY – Anticipating an influx of passengers in the coming days, the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) has issued some reminders to ensure hassle-free travel.
The CPA reminded the public to book their tickets in advance to avoid hassle caused by long queues in ticketing offices.
The CPA also reminded the public not to patronize individuals who offer services to book tickets on behalf of the passengers in exchange for a fee.
Even if wearing of face mask in ports is already optional, the CPA still encourages elderly, individuals with comorbidities, immunocompromised individuals, pregnant women, unvaccinated individuals, and symptomatic individuals to wear one.
The CPA also reminded that only passengers with boat tickets and valid identification cards shall be allowed entry into the port.
Passengers are also encouraged to be at the port at least two hours before the scheduled departure time.
The CPA said it will strictly impose the “no ticket, no ID, no entry” policy.
First aid stations and Malasakit Help Desks will be put up in port terminals to provide passenger assistance and support.
The CPA issued these reminders as it activated “Oplan: Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa and Summer Vacation 2023.”
All ports in Cebu have been under heightened alert starting April 2. The heightened alert status will end on April 10.
Thousands of passengers are expected to travel in observance of Holy Week and the long weekend after April 10 was also declared a non-working holiday in commemoration of “Araw ng Kagitingan” or Day of Valor.
The CPA noted that an influx of passengers has been noted as early as last Sunday, April 2, when 40,702 passengers arrived in all ports in Cebu.
These figures were higher compared to the same date last year which had 23,533 passengers.
CPA manages a total of 12 ports in Cebu, including the baseport here.
