Rhenz Abando delivers as Anyang gains 2-1 series lead vs Seoul in KBL finals
Rhenz Abando delivered as Anyang KGC slipped past the Seoul SK Knights, 81-70, in Game 3 of their best-of-seven finals affair in the 2022-23 Korean Basketball League on Saturday, April 29, at the Jamsil Student Gymnasium.
The Filipino import dropped 14 points on a 5-of-11 shooting clip including seven rebounds and two blocks as Anyang took a 2-1 lead in the series. Oh Se-geun led the way for Anyang anew after flirting with a double-double of 22 points and nine rebounds, while American import Omari Spellman had 16 points. Anyang bucked a slow start to gain the series lead at 2-1 following back-to-back victories. After trailing 37-31 at the half, Abando took care of business and scored 10 of his 14 points in Anyang’s third-quarter surge to snatch the lead, 58-54, heading into the fourth quarter. Anyang then opened the fourth quarter with an 11-0 blast to stretch its lead to 15 points and get Seoul off its back the rest of the way. Choi Bu-kyung paced the SK Knights with a team-high 23 points apart from nine rebounds.
