Pheww who was part of the  team that won the country’s very first gold medal in MLBB event in the SEA games in 2019, is returning to national team duty to lead a new breed of players from MPL Philippines team Bren Esports.

The veteran skipper said he’s thrilled to get a chance to make history in the MLBB scene in the SEA Games.

“Sa possibility ng second gold medal, sobrang exciting kung sakaling makuha namin yung gold medal. Parang ako pa lang yung player sa MLBB na (may) dalawang gold medal,” said Pheww during the joint press conference of Moonton Games and Philippine Esports Organization on Friday, April 28.

Pheww is expected to provide the experience and leadership to young-laden crew that also Michael “Kyletzy” Sayson, Marco “Super Marco” Requitano, Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo and Charles David “Flaptzy” Canon and Onic Philippines’ Nowee “Ryota” Macasa.

Despite being the only player with SEAG experience in the roster, Pheww said he’s not feeling any pressure at all as Sibol is expected to get a tough challenge from rivals Indonesia and Malaysia.

“Di na first time para sa akin mag-represent ng Philippines. Nung 2019 narepresent ko na siya kaya di na ganun kabigat yung pressure sa akin,” added Pheww who is also an M-series World Champions and a two-time MPL Philippines title winner.

Meanwhile, PeSO executive director Marlon Marcelo said the national team is hard pressed with its training as it vows to defend the gold medal in the MLBB event.

"We strive to give our best to take the third Gold medal for the country. Our main goal is to further put the Philippines in the global esports map, through Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. This time, we are also optimistic that our female team will showcase their best performance in the tournament," says Marcelo.
