Parañaque, Guam 'sister cities' ink cultural, economic partnerships
The Parañaque City government and several cities in Guam signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish its "sister cities" status and strengthen cultural and economic ties.
The MOU was signed during the visit of the Parañaque delegation led by 1st District Congressman Edwin Olivarez to Guam last April 12 to 17.
Mayor Eric Olivarez who was also noted as a signatory to the MOU despite not being able to join the trip due to his work schedule in the city government.
Those who signed for Guam were Mayor June U. Blas and Vice Mayor Jessie P. Bautista of Barrigada; Mayor Dale E. Alvarez of Santa Rita-Sumai; Mayor Kevin T. Susuico and Vice Mayor Christopher J. Fejeran of Hagat; Mayor Johnny A. Quinata of Humátak; Mayor Anthony P. Chargualaf of Inalahan; and Mayor Bill Quenga of Yona.

The signing of MOU was witnessed by Angel Sablan, the executive director of the Mayors’ Council of Guam and Parañaque City Councilor Marvin A. Santos. Cong. Olivarez thanked Guam for their warm reception and hospitality. He invited the executives to also visit Parañaque to formalize the relations between the cities. “We can’t hardly wait to reciprocate your generosity and hospitality, and we look forward to your visiting us in Parañaque in the very near future to further strengthen our Sister Cities relations,” Olivarez said. “Thank you very much for the honor and privilege of becoming your brothers and sisters across the Pacific,” he added.
