The Malabon City local government recognized the city's top taxpayers during the “Gabi ng Pasasalamat” program held at the Malabon Sports Complex on Friday, April 28.
The Gabi ng Pasasalamat, themed “Mula Tambobong hanggang lungsod ng Malabon: Salaysay ng Makulay na Kultura at Pagtungo sa Mayabong na Ekonomiya,” is the first awarding ceremony organized by the Malabon's City officials for the entrepreneurs in the city.
The event is part of the month-long celebration of the 22nd Malabon Cityhood, its 424th Founding Anniversary, and the Tambobong Festival in May.

"As you all know, Malabon City is making significant strides in terms of economic development, and we owe much of our success to your contributions and hard work. You are the lifeblood of our city, and your dedication to your businesses and the community has helped shape Malabon City into what it is today," Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said in her welcome address.
"The business sector plays a significant role in driving the development of a city. They provide essential goods and services, create job opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the local economy. They also generate revenue for the city through taxes and fees, which can be utilized to improve public services and infrastructure," she added.

Senator Cynthia A. Villar also graced the event to deliver her keynote address. She commended Sandoval for her efforts to promote the city's culinary heritage and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
"Malabon is fortunate to have a mayor who champions entrepreneurship. With her background in business and deep love for the city, Mayor Jeannie promotes everything that is made in Malabon, including basket weaving, food, and other local products produced by small businesses," the senator said.
"Your city has come a long way and achieved a milestone and you now have a hardworking mayor who is already inspiring, positive change in a short amount of time. With Mayor Jeannie's leadership, we look forward to a brighter future and to the best that is yet to come. Mabuhay po ang Malabon," Villar added.
The Gabi ng Pasasalamat recognized the top business and real estate taxpayers whose exemplary compliance supports the city's economic growth.
The occasion also awarded business owners of Brew Cave, Jacks, Mary Jay restaurant, Balsa, Benny's Lounge, Burger King, Jollibee Potrero and Concepcion, and McDonald's Flores whose facilities have provided clean sanitation.
The city government said sanitation is a major pillar to promote healthy communities as well as sustain tourism.

"Sa food business, alam natin na hygiene and sanitation sa business ay number one. Syempre kino-consider ito lagi ng mga tao. Maganda na prinopromote ng Malabon ito sa lahat ng businesses in the city (In food business, we know that hygiene and sanitation is number one. Of course people always consider it. It is good that Malabon is promoting this to all businesses in the city)," Earl Adrian Cruz, 31, owner of Brew Cave said.
Meanwhile, the new mobile application called "Malabon Tourism App" was also launched during the event.
The new application aims to help entrepreneurs in the city promote their business products and gain a wider market.
Malabon's public announcements, famous food and drinks, heritage and festivals, and outdoor and recreational activities will be showcased in the application.
"An exciting step forward in promoting our city's unique and diverse attractions to both locals and tourists. This app will make it easier for visitors to explore our city and discover all that Malabon has to offer. With its user-friendly interface and comprehensive information, the app will undoubtedly boost tourism in our city and provide a significant boost to our local economy," Sandoval expressed.
City councilors, barangay chairpersons, and department heads also attended the event to learn how to navigate the new mobile application.
Malabon is set to hold a series of special events, including the search for Ginoo and Binibining Malabon pageant whose winners will not only receive exciting prizes but will also serve as the city's ambassadors promoting Malabon's rich culture and heritage.
