9,542 TUPAD workers in Caraga to receive salaries on Labor Day
BUTUAN CITY – About 9,542 workers in the Caraga region are set to receive their salaries totaling more than P39.9 million from the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD cash-for-work scheme program on Labor Day.
DOLE-Region 13 Director Joffrey M. Suyao said 44,142 displaced workers in the region have already benefited from the program from January to March this year.
They have rendered 15 days of work and community service and will end their work on or before the scheduled release of their payment on May 1.
Meanwhile, the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in the region has resolved 140 out of 337 labor-related cases filed in the first quarter of 2023.
NLRC-Region 13 Labor Arbitrator Associate Robert Aying said on Friday, April 28, that the majority of the cases filed were related to disputes between management and workers.
Aying said the resolution of the 140 cases also resulted in the awarding of nearly P19.6 million in monetary benefits to affected workers.
The NLRC-Region 13 is still working with the involved parties to resolve the remaining 197 cases.
