Two people were injured in a fire that reached fourth alarm at Pritil Market in Tondo, Manila Friday, April 28, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) announced.
"The PRC team transported one patient to the nearest hospital, while another one was treated on-site," the PRC said. According to the initial report of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze was declared first alarm at 10:43 p.m. and was raised to second alarm at 10:48 p.m.
It escalated to third alarm at 10:49 p.m., and fourth alarm at 11:14 p.m.
The fire took more than three hours before it was put under control at 3:46 a.m. on Saturday, April 29.
It was extinguished at 7:58 a.m.
Fire probers have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
Authorities advise the public to avoid the area until firefighting operations conclude.
