KIDAPAWAN CITY (PNA) – Four armed robbery suspects were killed during a police pursuit operation in M’lang, North Cotabato on Thursday night, April 27, police said.
In a radio interview on Friday, April 28, Police Lt. Col. Realan Mamon, M’lang police chief, said three of the six suspects were killed on the spot while the fourth died in the hospital.
Mamon said the suspects, who were on board a mini-truck, robbed a man in Matalam, North Cotabato at gunpoint at about 7 p.m. on Thursday. They took their victim’s mobile phone.
The suspects then sped off toward adjacent M’lang.
Police operatives of Matalam sought the help of their M’lang counterparts to put up a blocking force as the suspects were heading toward the town.
“They refused to pull over at a checkpoint, and instead they opened fire at our patrol car,” Mamon told the Church-run DXND station here.
Two of the six suspects managed to escape, he said, adding that the casualties were taken to a local funeral parlor and were still awaiting claimants.
Mamon said the suspects’ identities remained unknown as of posting time.
