28 Muntinlupa public schools to implement blended learning

Muntinlupa public schools will shift to blended learning due to soaring temperatures in Metro Manila.

The Schools Division Office-Muntinlupa under the Department of Education (DepEd) announced on April 28 that the blended learning modality will be implemented in all 28 public elementary, and junior and senior high schools in Muntinlupa from May 2 to June 2.

“Blended Learning composites face to face and asynchronous modalities,” according to Schools Division Superintendent Evangeline Ladines.

According to DepEd issuance in July 2022, blended learning “refers to a learning delivery that combines face-to-face with any or a mix of online distance learning, modular distance learning, and TV/Radio-based Instruction.”

Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management said the heat index in Muntinlupa reached 37 degree Celsius on April 27 with air temperature of 32.88 degree Celsius and relative humidity of 57 percent.

Heat index “is a measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body's ability to cool itself,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The SDO Muntinlupa urged the public to coordinate with school officials and teachers for information about the blended learning.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon earlier said the safety of students and school personnel is a priority of the city government.
