Valenzuela police meet barangay officials to discuss crime-free community
Officers and members of the Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) met with the officials of Barangay Viente Reales on Wednesday, April 26 , to discuss plans for a crime-free community.
The meeting was held at Bartolome Covered Court in Brgy. Viente Reales Valenzuela City.
"Talakayan ni Hepe, Kasama ang Barangay" is an initiative program of VCPS under the Philippine National Police (PNP) programs Kapulisan, Simbahan, at Pamayanan (KASIMBAYANAN) and Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA), that seeks to prevent the proliferation of criminal activities in 33 city barangays.
"Sa programang ito, nagtatalakayan po ang pulisya ng nakakasakop na substation, barangay, at komunidad. Pinapadali po ang komunikasyon para mas mabilis ang ugnayan. Magiging magkatuwang ang pulis, barangay at mamamayan sa pagsugpo at pag-iwas sa mga krimen (In this program, the police officers directly discuss plans with police substations, and barangay officials and residents to facilitate faster communication. They work together in suppressing and preventing crimes)," said Col. Salvador Destura Jr., Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) chief.
According to the police chief, VCPS operatives regularly conduct patrol operations in the communities to monitor the common problems and issues in the areas.
He said they have been deploying personnel in the city barangays since March 1 to talk to residents and learn ways to improve the city's anti-criminality campaigns.
Destura also said that the reports and complaints they receive from the residents contribute in the success of eradicating illegal drugs and other crimes in the city.
"Kung dati, ang hepe ng substation ay nagre-report sa chief of police kaugnay sa mga krimen at mga pangyayari sa kanilang lugar, sa programang ito, ang mga hepe ng substation ang bababa at mag-rereport sa mga kapitan ng barangay at komunidad upang direktang mapag-usapan ang mga suliranin o isyu sa lugar (Before, substation commanders report to the city chief of police about the recent crimes and events in their areas, but in this program, it will be the station commanders who will report to the barangay captains so that they can directly discuss the problems in the barangay)," said Maj. Gina Pariñas, chief of the Station Community Affairs Section (SACS).
The meeting was also attended by commanders of the city police stations and units, Barangay Viente Reales' health workers, personnel and residents, City Peacemaker Board officers, Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) clients, Solo Parent Organization President Jocelyn Pescadora, and KASIMBAYAN pastors.
During the meeting, VCPS said the attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, share thoughts and opinions, and talk about the barangay's best practices.
Destura also urged residents and attendees to report any type of illegal activity in the barangay.
"Patuloy po naming gagawin ito at iikutin ang 33 barangay sa lungsod ng Valenzuela. Pagkatapos po ay isa-isa po namin silang kukumustahin kung epektibo ang aming mga napag-usapan (We will continue to do this in 33 barangays in Valenzuela City. We will also check the effectivity of the plans discussed)," he added.
