Love triangle eyed in intel cop's gun slay in GenSan

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police are eyeing love triangle as possible motive in the killing of a police intelligence agent while he was dining inside a restaurant in Barangay Calumpang here on April 20. Lawmen have arrested the suspected mastermind and gunman in the killing of Police Corporal Razul Alongan, an intelligence operative of the Police Station 5 here. The suspect, a former member of the New People’s Army, was apprehended in a hot-pursuit operation in South Cotabato on April 22. Police Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Police Regional Office-12 director, said the gunman, Jengilito Sotto, 30, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Sarangani province, was arrested by the South Cotabato Provincial Police Office and General Santos City Police Office in Barangay Klinan 6, Polomolok. Sotto, a former member of the NPA-Guerilla Front 75, was implicated in the murder of Alongan by Janna Perez, the alleged mastermind who was earlier arrested by police operatives in Barangay Calumpang here. Police said Perez had an illicit affair with Alongan who earned the ire of Perez after she learned that he had an affair with another woman. Perez contracted Sotto to kill Alongan who was set up by the suspects to have a dinner with Perez before he was killed. Police have filed murder charges against Perez and Sotto.
