CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The Peace and Order Council and Anti-Drug Abuse Council here back the total ban on e-sabong
operations in this province.
They aired their full support to the move during a recent joint meeting following a memorandum issued by Gov. Ramil Hernandez reiterating the suspension of e-sabong operations.
Hernandez’s memorandum dated March 7, 2023 reminded all city and municipal mayors to ensure that e-sabong, e-sabong auxiliary, and off-cockpit betting station operations within their jurisdiction remain suspended.
He also instructed the Laguna provincial police chief to assist local government units (LGUs) in implementing the order.
On June 20, 2022, Hernandez issued a memorandum ordering chiefs of police and local chief executives in the province to revoke all franchises issued to e-sabong operators and ensure that they cease and desist r operations.
LGUs are mandated by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2023-030 to strictly implement the provisions of Executive Order No. 9, Series of 2022, signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., suspending e-sabong operations nationwide.
