Zamboanga City holds Fiesta Cultural to kick off Summer Verano Festival

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city government held the Fiesta Cultural on Monday, April 24, at Plaza Pershing to kick off this year’s Summer Verano Festival.

The Fiesta Cultural featured a Pangalay competition and a food festival participated in by the most skilled dancers, chefs, and cooking enthusiasts here. Pangalay is a traditional dance by the Tausug community featuring graceful body postures and hand and finger movements. The competition was won by groups from Barangays Rio Hondo, San Roque, and Sinunuc. Expert chefs and cooks from commercial establishments in this city won in this year’s food festival after showcasing their sumptuous food and cooking skills. The Fiesta Cultural competitions are also activities under the city’s Hariraya Puasa celebration.
