Sheryn Regis' daughter comes out of the closet

A case of like mother, like daughter? Singer Sheryn Regis' daughter Sweety Echiverri proudly revealed she's a member of the LGBTQ community. She did so via a video shown in an episode of "Magandang Buhay." There, the 20-year-old recalled the time when her mother told her she's a lesbian. "Ang initial reaction ko po when my mom came out, at first I was very surprised kasi my mom never really showed any signs that she was in a closet. And around that time I was also confused about my sexuality and my self-identity. I was a teenager when she first came out to me,” she said. “When my mom came out to me, I actually had the guts and comfort to come out to her and my dad as bisexual," she added. Sweety then told Sheryn: “I am so proud of how supportive and how amazing and how representative you are of the LGBTQ community. And good luck to you and your future concerts.” Sheryn, of course, couldn't help but turn emotional upon hearing her heartwarming message. She related: "When she said that she really accepted me and it doesn't make me less of a person and a mom to her - when I opened up everything about myself - I am so proud of her for having an open mind para sa lahat ng mga gender. "Pinag-uusapan din namin whatever Sweety decides, whatever she prefers kung ano ang gender preference niya, in-accept namin," she stressed, recalling how Sweety told them that "she can be fluid" when she was 12 years old. "We accepted her, I accepted her and now she accepted me for being who I am but mommy pa rin ako." Recall that it was in 2021 when the 43-year-old power belter opened up about her sexuality by revealing to the public her romance with online content creator Mel de Guia.
