ROS slaps additional fine on Belga as PBA reiterates rules against 'ligang labas'
Beau Belga found himself in an even deeper trouble after further investigation by the Rain or Shine management revealed that he actually saw action in two more unsanctioned games other than the fight-marred Cebu exhibition match.

The team management said Belga breached the PBA Uniform Players’ Contract when he participated in exhibition games in Davao and Laguna. The Elasto Painters already cracked the whip on Belga with an initial six-day suspension without pay and was even slapped with a heavier sanction with a fine equivalent to 15 days worth of his salary. Belga and NLEX big man JR Quiñahan were in hot water after getting caught playing in an unsanctioned game, much worse getting involved in a commotion where punches were even thrown. Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Eric Castro reiterated the league’s rules against playing in ‘ligang labas’ during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Tuesday, April 25. According to Castro, the PBA is set to release a memo in relation to the Cebu brawl in the coming days while Belga and Quiñahan along with Magnolia’s Jio Jalalon and NorthPort’s Robert Bolick who likewise played in the exhibition game are expected to meet PBA commissioner Willie Marcial next week. Citing an earlier case where Jalalon was also involved in an unsanctioned game during the height of pandemic in 2021 and was fined P75,000, heftier punishments could also await the players and future violators. “You could remember that Jio Jalalon played during nungkainitan ng pandemic so he was fined and we released a memo regarding playing outside, ‘yung mga ligang labas so we will reiterate that rule,” said Castro.
