Rain or Shine fines Rey Nambatac for 'ligang labas' participation
The Rain or Shine management's investigation on its players' activities outside the PBA games has now led to more disciplinary actions.
After handing out suspensions and fines to big man Beau Belga for his participation in unsanctioned games or "ligang labas", the Elasto Painters went on and also cracked the whip on point guard Rey Nambatac. According to Rain or Shine, Nambatac also breached the PBA’s Uniform Players’ Contract after being found out to have played in an exhibition game. He was then meted with a fine equal to two days worth of salary. Rain or Shine’s series of fines and suspensions came in the wake of the brawl in an exhibition game in Cebu where Belga along with NLEX big man JR Quinahan, Magnolia’s Jio Jalalon and NorthPort’s Robert Bolick all saw action. The PBA, through deputy commissioner Eric Castro, has already reiterated the league’s rules against playing in unsanctioned games especially with the long off-season ahead.
