LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Over P2.7-million worth of dried and fully grown marijuana plants were burned in this province on Monday, April 24.
The Benguet Provincial Police Office conducted simultaneous marijuana eradication operations in the municipalities of Sablan, Bakun, and Kibungan which resulted in the discovery of 21,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks and 1,000 fully grown marijuana plants with an overall standard drug price of P2.75 million.
All marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site. An investigation is ongoing to identify the possible cultivators.
Meanwhile, police arrested a male drug personality after he sold one plastic sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.3 grams with an SDP of P2,040 in a buy-bust operation here.
Suspect was identified as Meljohn Mejia Cabusora, 35, a painter and a resident of Barangay South Sanitary Camp, Baguio City.
Cabusora and evidence were brought to the La Trinidad MPS for documentation. Suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
