While all basketball players are special, not all of them can design footwear. However, NBA All-Star Devin Booker has recently designed a pair for heritage brand, Converse.
According to Converse, "Booker’s love for the Chuck 70 is well known—it's a staple in the tunnel fit titan’s classic, minimalist wardrobe. So much so that Booker approached Converse to design and execute his take on the silhouette, which he stripped down to create a blank canvas for a clean, timeless look."
With the intention of providing a canvas for true expression, Devin encourages wearers to customize their pairs, saying, "You can paint it. You can bleach it. This is a blank canvas—you can do whatever you want with it."
To support the shoe's launch, Devin and Converse also created a short film that brings his cinematic vision to life. The film pays homage to vintage Americana and features Devin on a journey through the desert. It blends iconic American imagery with an iconic silhouette while nodding to Devin’s ongoing pursuit of a legacy both on and off the court.
Devin's vision for the silhouette is executed with an undyed, egret canvas upper complemented by a tonal embroidered Chuck patch and a clean tape midsole with no pinstripe or toe bumper. The shoe also features a ‘Pretty Penny’ Arizona license plate on the heel, which is a personal reference to the plate on the first classic car Devin ever purchased and is also featured in the film.
