MILF arms recovered in Maguindanao

ILIGAN CITY – The police and military seized war materiel belonging to warring Moro Islamic Liberation Front groups in Maguindanao del Sur. The 2nd Mechanized Battalion and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted a clearing operation in Barangay Elian, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, on Monday morning, April 24. The operation resulted in the recovery of one caliber .38 revolver, one hand grenade, one short magazine, one bandolier, one 81mm mortar canister, and four 60mm mortar canisters. According to Major Gen. Alex Rillera, commander of Joint Task Force Central, these were believed to be left behind by the warring BIAF-MILF groups 118th Base Command and 105th Base Command. These were handed over to the police EOD team for proper disposition. Western Mindanao command chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido said the military continues to assist the police and the local government units in the intensified conduct of law enforcement operations. "We will not allow any group to create fear and havoc in the communities under the Westmincom’s area of operations.”
