Man hacks brother to death in Ilocos Norte due to old grudge

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – A 75-year-old man allegedly hacked his 77-year-old brother to death over an old grudge in Barangay Zamboanga here on Sunday, April 23. City police chief Police Lt. Col.  Joseph Baltazar identified the victim as Elpidio Dumrique. Investigation said Elpidio was suddenly hacked by his brother, Manuel. Manuel also allegedly hacked and wounded a woman, Raquel Utleg, before fleeing the crime scene. Elpidio died on the spot while Utleg was taken to a hospital. Further investigation revealed that motive of the crime was an old grudge. Police are conducting a manhunt against the suspect while parricide and frustrated murder charges have been filed against him.
