2 die, 3 hurt in Antipolo road mishap

A mother and her child died while three others were injured in a road collision in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo, Rizal on Wednesday, April 26. According to Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares, the incident happened along Sumulong Highway, La Veranda in Barangay Sta. Cruz. He said that the initial police investigation showed that a mother and her child were riding a motorcycle while cruising along the road when the driver of a maroon Toyota Innova coming from the opposite direction suddenly lost control of the vehicle causing it to overshoot towards the lane where the mother and her child were, hitting them head-on. The victims died on the spot while the driver of the Innova, together with his wife and their child, were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital. The victims and the suspect have yet to be identified by the authorities. "Kasalukuyang naka-hospital arrest ang suspect at nakatakdang humarap sa kasong Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Two Counts of Homicides (The suspect is currently placed under hospital arrest and is now facing charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Two Counts of Homicides)," Ynares said. The mayor condoled with the family of the victims and urged motorists to be careful and responsible when driving.
