1,857 jobs offered on Labor Day in Davao region

DAVAO CITY â€“ The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Davao has announced that 1,857 jobs will be offered in the Labor Day jobs fair at SM City Davao in Ecoland here. DOLE-Davao Director Randolf Pensoy said that 38 local companies will participate in the job fair and they hope that more applicants will be hired on the spot. He said the Top 10 job vacancies are sales consultants, tellers, machine operators, marketing professionals, marketing assistants, production workers, accounting staff, production crew, warehouse and casual workers, and delivery riders. Ryan Roldan, DOLE-Davao spokesperson, said applicants who pre-register online will be prioritized for interview but added that walk-in job seekers will also be accommodated. As of Jan. 20, 2023, Roldan said the employment rate in the region stood at 95.5 percent while the unemployment rate was 4.5 percent. There are 2,263,000 employed workers in the region. He said the employment rate recovered due to the normalization of operations and reopening of several establishments, particularly those related to the tourism and business process outsourcing. Pensoy said many establishments encountered several challenges at the height of the pandemic while others suffered financial losses due to other circumstances, including calamities.
