Public schools in Batangas City switch to blended learning due to extreme heat

BATANGAS CITY – Public schools under the Department of Education Division of City Schools here have switched to blended learning over the extreme heat.

Dr. Hermogenes Panganiban, schools division superintendent, said 107 out of 108 schools have resorted to modified classes starting on Monday, April 24.

Sixty-six public elementary and high schools have implemented a modified scheme under which, Panganiban said, classes will start at 6 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon.

There will be no classes in the afternoon.

Panganiban added that the remaining subjects will be taught through blended modular scheme.

These changes were decided during the general meeting of all school heads under the Department of Education Division of City Schools.

The DepEd Central Office in Pasig City had earlier said that school heads and local DepEd officials are allowed to implement blended learning due to the extreme heat.

Panganiban said most private schools are not affected because their classrooms are typically airconditioned.
