Police visibility in Bohol intensified following shootings

Gov. Aris Aumentado recently met Police Col. Lorenzo Batuan, chief of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO), to discuss the peace and order situation in the province. Aumentado said he was told during the meeting that five shooting incidents have occurred in the province from March to April. These incidents happened in the towns of Ubay, San Miguel, and Inabanga. One of the victims was a supervisor of the Department of Education who was gunned down by motorcycle-riding assailants in Inabanga on April 20. “Because of the series of shooting incidents, we agreed that police visibility will be increased in more areas. The BPPO will also intensify its intelligence gathering,” Aumentado said. Aumentado asked the public to help authorities in keeping the province peaceful. He advised his constituents to settle whatever differences that may come out in a peaceful way. “I am appealing that in case there are arguments or differences, settle it peacefully. Talk about it, settle it right away, and don’t allow the conflict to get out of hand,” Aumentado said. Resorting to violence when there are differences should never be an option. “If your conflicts lead to threats, go to the barangay or the nearest police station and have it reported. Let’s all take care,” said Aumentado.
