PAGASA sees slim chance of tropical cyclone formation until end April
There is a slim chance of a tropical cyclone forming within the country’s area of responsibility until the end of the month, a weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, April 24.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the weather bureau has not monitored a low pressure area or LPA that could develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days.
Based on its latest forecast, he said that there is little chance of tropical cyclone development until the end of April.
PAGASA said the easterlies or the warm air from the Pacific Ocean will continue to be the dominant weather system in the country.
In the next 24 hours, the entire archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant as there can be flooding or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and sometimes hail.
