ECHO Proud bags maiden MDL Philippines title

ECHO’s dominance continued even in the MDL Philippines. Its counterpart, ECHO Proud, reigned supreme and bagged the maiden MDL PH title following a convincing 3-1 victory over GameLab on Sunday, April 23. Armed with a bevy of experience with former MPL players leading the way, ECHO dominated the playoffs, first taking down Omega Neos in the semifinals with a 2-0 sweep before dismantling Group A top seed GameLab in the Finals to get a share of the USD 20,000 or approximately PHP 1,080,000. Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz, who was adjudged as the Grand Finals MVP, set the tone for the rout with his Lolita and Franco picks in Games 1 and 2. His timely setups on the Noumenon Blast and the Iron Hook-Bloody Hunt combo enabled his damage dealers to deliver in the championship series. “Sobrang saya sa feeling namin. Gusto talaga namin makuha ang championship sa first season ng MDL Philippines kasi mahirap syang makalimutan. First MDL sa Pilipinas at kami ang nanalo," said Jaypee during the MDL Philippines grand finals press conference. James “Jeymz” Gloria, Jankurt “Kurtzy “ Matira, Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar and Justin “Zaida” Palma all displayed impressive chemistry in executing ECHO’s relentless attack to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five affair. Refusing to go down without a fight was GameLab who came back roaring in Game 3 behind the efforts of Jermaine “Aizawa” Fernandez on the Valentina pick. Those however still went futile in the end as ECHO Proud led by Jaypee’s signature Tank Chou pick slammed the door on any comeback hopes for GameLab with a resounding 12-4 win in just 12 minutes.
