Boy drowns in Negros river

BACOLOD CITY – A nine-year-old boy drowned in a river in Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, April 23.

Gina Fernandez, deputy chief of the Cadiz City Police Station, said the victim went swimming with his sibling when he was swept away by a strong river current. Fernandez said the victim reportedly did not know how to swim. The victim was revived by his father and a rescuer but he was declared dead in a hospital.
