Police operatives arrested three suspects believed to be behind the robbery at an electronics store in a mall in Pasig City on Friday, April 21.
In a report to Pasig City Police Station (CPS) Chief Col. Celerino Sacro, the suspects were identified as “Bernadette,” 30, a customer care assistant; “Carlo,” 31, company driver; and “Ruben,” 25.
According to the report, a store manager filed a complaint with the Ortigas Police Sub-station regarding a robbery incident inside an electronics store in a mall on Meralco Avenue, Barangay Ugong, Pasig City.
The complaint was forwarded to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) of the Pasig CPS.
Police found a CCTV footage showing Carlo forcibly entering the electronics store and stealing items.
Operatives of the SIDMS and the Follow-Up and Station Intelligence sections also identified a Toyota Vios car that was used as the getaway vehicle by the suspects.
With verification from the Pasig branch of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), police identified and interviewed the registered owner of the vehicle.
According to the owner, the vehicle was one of the cars used for their rent-a-car business. The Toyota Vios specifically has been rented by a man identified as “Gerald,” for almost three months.
The vehicle was found and spotted at Road 10 Delpan Bridge in Tondo, Manila after checking the Global Positioning System (GPS) installed in the car.
Police flagged down the car, ordered the occupants to alight from the vehicle, and placed them under arrest.
Police recovered the stolen items – four pieces of Apple Iphone Watches and one Apple iPad -- from the vehicle.
Carlo told the police that he had two other cohorts identified as “Singki” and “Boyong,” 31, but they eluded arrest.
Using further information disclosed by Carlo to the police, a follow-up operation was conducted in Angeles City, Pampanga where some of the stolen items were sold, resulting in the arrest of two men identified as “Amelkhir,” 39, and “Rasul,” 35.
The suspects were brought to the Pasig CPS for proper documentation.
Bernadette, Carlo, and Ruben are facing charges for robbery, while Amelkhir and Rasul are facing complaints for violation of Presidential Decree 1612 or the “Anti-Fencing Law.”
