A 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolted Isabela province on Sunday afternoon, April 23, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the quake struck 28 kilometers northeast of Maconacon town, Isabela province around 5:19 p.m.Â

Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area. However, it does not expect damage or aftershocks because of this earthquake. It noted that the earthquake may not have caused damage to houses, buildings, and other infrastructure, but advised the public to remain vigilant as aftershocks may occur.
