Ex-NPA member tagged as gunman in killing of police intel operative nabbed in South Cotabato
GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police operatives arrested on Saturday, April 22, a former member of the New People’s Army who is believed to be responsible for the killing of a police intelligence operative here.
Police Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Police Regional Office-12 director, said the suspect, Jengilito Sotto, 30, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Sarangani province, was arrested by personnel from the South Cotabato Provincial Police Office and General Santos City Police Office during a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Klinan 6, Polomolok, South Cotabato.
Sotto, a former member of the NPA-Guerilla Front 75, was tagged as the gunman in the killing of Police Corporal Razul Alongan, a police intelligence operative assigned to Police Station 5 in this city, who was shot dead inside a restaurant in Barangay Fatima on April 20.
The arrest of Sotto came after his cohort, Janna Perez, 36, tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing of Alongan, was earlier nabbed by police operatives in Barangay Calumpang, also in this city.
City police director Police Col. Alexis Yap said murder charges will be filed against the suspects who are presently detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7.
