Bonnie Tan and Letran’s fruitful four-year run made its final lap.

Tan has decided to part ways with the Knights after steering the team to three championships titles in his stint as the head coach.

The multi-titled tactician now shifts his focus to NorthPort where he was officially named as the head tactician after serving on an interim basis in the recently concluded PBA Governors' Cup.

"I'm grateful for the opportunities that Letran has afforded me. I'm deeply appreciative of how the community has welcomed me since I came on board and being considered as an honorary Letranite will always be one of the biggest achievements I could ever receive," he said on Sunday, April 23.

In 2019, Tan replaced Jeff Napa and brought Letran to the NCAA title in his debut as the mentor after toppling erstwhile undefeated San Beda to rule NCAA Season 95.

The league returned in 2021 for Season 97 where the Knights swept their way to their second straight championship crown before completing the three-peat the following year.

Tan has amassed a 44-13 win-loss record in his time in Letran, an impressive 77-percent winning rate as well as bagging three NCAA Coach of the Year plums.

“As I close this chapter, I cherish all of those who believed in what we could do for the Knights, from boss Ramon S. Ang and sports director Alfrancis Chua of San Miguel Corp. to Letran Rector Fr. Clarence Victor C. Marquez, OP, Vice President for Academic Affairs Assoc. Prof. Cristina M. Castro-Cabral, Ph.D, and athletic director Fr. Victor Calvo, OP,” he said.

Deputy coach Rensy Bajar is set to take over as the head coach with the formal announcement expected this Monday, with Tan giving his stamp of approval to his longtime assistant.

"Coach Rensy has been with us during the three-peat era and I'm confident that he can sustain the winning culture that we have built with the Knights," he said.

Letran, though, continues to boast a formidable lineup this coming NCAA Season 99, with Kurt Reyson, Paolo Javillonar and Kobe Monje all expected to pick up the cudgels in the Knights' quest to extend this dynasty to a four-peat.
