The Filipino-Thai tandem, who was seeded fourth in the $25,000 event, fell short in their title bid after yielding to second seed Ray Ho of Chinese Taipei and Sun Fajing of China, 6-4, 7-5. Alcantara and Isaro appeared to have a smooth-sailing campaign after never dropping a set in their previous matches, but their higher-ranked rivals in the final match proved too much to handle. Prior to their finals defeat, Alcantara and Isaro whipped Australians Aaron Addison and Ethan Cook in the first round, 6-3, 6-4 and outhustled Japanese duo Shintaro Imai and Makoto Ochi in the quarterfinals, 7-5 (5), 6-4, before winning by default over Indonesia’s Justin Barki and Dutch Igor Sijsling. Alcantara also competed in the singles, but lost in the second round of the qualifying to Australian Derek Pham, 6-1, 2-6, 10-2. He won in the first round to Indonesian Aldhito Ramadhan Dwi Kurniawan, 6-3, 6-3. Alcantara and Isaro are on the hunt for a second doubles title this year since winning the M25 New Delhi last March.
