PRO-7 cops seize P100-M worth of illegal drugs, nab 767 drug pushers in month-long operation
CEBU CITY – More than P100-million worth of illegal drugs were seized in Region 7 a month after Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin assumed office as chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7).
Data released by the Regional Tactical Operations Center showed that from March 20 to April 20, the PRO-7 seized 15,774.49 grams of shabu worth P107 million and 17,163.72 grams of marijuana worth P2,059,000.
The one-month period also saw the arrest of 767 drug personalities.
The confiscations and the arrests stemmed from the intelligence-driven operations conducted by the PRO-7’s various units, said Aberin.
In the crackdown against illegal gambling, the police arrested 1,467 individuals and confiscated P174,820 cash representing bets.
Also during the period, the PRO-7 recovered 399 loose firearms and 17 explosives through the “Oplan: Katok” operations.
At least 108 individuals were also arrested for illegal possession of firearms.
PRO-7 personnel were also able to arrest 110 most wanted persons and 766 other wanted persons.
Aberin said the PRO-7 will continue to implement more strategic plans and programs advocating safety and security in the region.
"Criminalities have no place under my watch,” declared Aberin. “The PRO7, with your full support, will continue to deploy ‘Able, Active, Allied’ and competent operatives to take criminals off the streets where our children can foster without hesitation,” added Aberin.
