Pilgrim relic of St. Therese a reminder of God's presence in our lives-says bishop
A Church leader has reminded the faithful of the importance of the relics of saints as he cited the relics of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus as a reminder of God’s presence in our lives.
Diocese of Cubao Bishop Honesto F. Ongtioco called on the faithful to get inspiration from the recent visit of the relics of the popular saint at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City, to strengthen their faith as they experience the love of God despite hardships and difficulties.
“The presence of the relic of Saint Therese reminds us of the continuous presence of God in our lives as it brings peace to us. The pilgrim relic visit reminds us of the blessings that God has for us as well as the forgiveness of our sins, healing of the different wounds in our times and the suffering of many people especially the poor,” said Bishop Ongtioco.
“The presence of the relics of St. Therese brings healing and peace to those who are troubled as it brings about immense joy,” the prelate added.
The bishop welcomed the relics of the Little Flower of Jesus with cathedral rector Father Dennis Soriano.
For his part, Fr. Soriano called on the faithful not to lose hope amid trials in life.
“Like St. Therese, may we always say ‘yes’ to God’s plans for us and never lose hope trusting and believing that God will always be there for us,” the priest said over Radio Veritas.
The visit was part of the 5th Philippine Visit of the Pilgrim Relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in the country that began in January and will end on April 30. The relics of the miraculous saint is currently making the rounds of parishes in Cavite.
