Parañaque LGU inaugurates OsPar-1 dialysis unit


Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez and 1stDistrict Representative Edwin Olivarez led the inauguration of the first local government-operated and Department of Health (DOH)-accredited dialysis unit at the Ospital ng Parañaque 1 (OsPar1) on Friday, April 21.

According to Dr. Jefferson Pagsisihan, OsPar-1 director, the hospital dialysis unit with seven chairs will start serving in-patients on May 1 for free.

Pagsisihan said the hospital will accommodate out-patients once the dialysis unit receives accreditation from PhilHealth.

Olivarez said the city government also plans to have additional dialysis machines in the coming years to accommodate more patients.

He said aside from the dialysis center, the hospital will also open the intensive
care unit next month.

As a registered nurse himself, the mayor said part of his administration's goals was to modernize and improve the services of the government-run hospitals for its residents.

The city government is also planning to have another dialysis unit with nine chairs at Ospital ng Parañaque II (OsPar 2) located in Barangay Don Bosco.

He said OsPar 2, under the supervision of Dr. Patrick Cruz, is just waiting for the
permit coming from DOH-NCR to open it to the public.
