Navotas LGU warns residents of high tides in coastal areas

The local government of Navotas City advised residents living in the city's coastal areas to watch out for high tides from April 23 to 25.

The city government said the residents should remain vigilant when the sea tides rise higher than normal.

It said the tides will start to rise on Sunday noon.

This week, the highest tide is anticipated to reach up to two meters from normal sea level. It is expected to occur at around 12:25 p.m. on Sunday and 12:52 p.m. on Monday.

The city government said sea tides may also rise up to 1.6 meters on Tuesday afternoon.

It also assured residents that the sea tides will not cause a flood as the floodgate built by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) can contain up to two meters of high tide.

"Mag-ingat at maging handa po sa anumang sakuna (Be careful and be prepared for any disaster)," the city government added.
