Fisherman shot dead in Ilocos Norte

CAMP JUAN, Ilocos Norte – A fisherman was shot to death by an unidentified assailant along the road near the Padsan River, Barangay Santo Tomas, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte on Friday evening, April 21. Police identified the victim as Magno Balicoco, 55, also a construction worker and resident of Barangay Santo Tomas. Police said the victim, who was on board his motorcycle, was on his way home after catching fish from the river when the suspect shot and hit him on the head. The police said the victim died before reaching the hospital. Police Major Hermy Ancheta, Sarrat chief of police, said the suspect used a caliber .45 pistol based on the recovered empty shells at the crime scene. Ancheta said they had already identified the persons of interest in connection with the shooting incident.
