'Diversity is not an obstacle': Romualdez greets Muslim faithful on Eid'l Fitr

Diversity is not an obstacle, but a potent moving force. This was the gist of House Speaker Martin Romualdez's message Saturday morning, April 22 on the occasion of Eid’l Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan. "We extend our warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters as we join them in celebrating Eid’l Fitr marking the end of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic faith," said Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district representative. "The recognition and respect for the diversity in our religious beliefs are deeply enshrined in our Constitution. And so, no matter our faith or religion, we continue to march towards progress as a nation, as Filipinos united under one flag," he said. "We view this diversity not as an obstacle to development, but rather as a potent moving force for all of us to contribute to nation-building in our own way, according to our respective religious beliefs," Romualdez added. "May you and your families be blessed with good health, happiness, and prosperity. May peace reign over your hearts and your households. And may the blessings of life be upon you and your loved ones," the House leader further said. Ramadan is a period of fasting and spiritual growth for Muslims. It is one of the five “pillars of Islam” – the others being the declaration of faith, daily prayer, alms-giving, and the pilgrimage to Mecca.
