Azurin thanks media for helping PNP inform people


BAGUIO CITY – Outgoing Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. on Saturday, April 22, thanked the media for helping the PNP inform the people of police programs that contributed to the improved peace and order in the country.

"It is very important that the police and the media have a good relationship for the peace we are promoting and the suppression of corruption, especially drugs,” Azurin said during the induction of new officials of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera Press Corps at Chief PNP Cottage, Navy Base, here.

Azurin also told the media to report any threat to their lives immediately to the police for immediate action.

“You also hope that the police will cooperate with you against the bad elements that threaten the life of a media," said Azurin.

The new PRO-Cordillera Press Corps officers for the year 2023 to 2025 are Jordan Tablac  Bombo Radyo, president, Mauricio Victa, Baguio Chronicle, vice president; Thom Picana, Amianan Balita Ngayon, auditor; Migs Velarde, Z-Radio, business manager; Rod Osis, treasurer, Herald Express; Dionisio Dennis, secretary, DZWT;  and Zaldy Comanda, business manager.

On the Board of Directors are Frank Cimatu, Baguio Chronicle; Andy Zapata, Philippine Star; Harley Palangchao, Baguio Midland Courier, and Dexter See, Herald Express.

Azurin was in this city to attend the testimonial parade in his honor prepared by the Philippine Military Academy three days before his retirement on Monday, April 24.
