San Isidro Labrador Parish to receive first class relic of the saint
The San Isidro Labrador Parish in Makiling, Calamba, Laguna will receive a first-class relic of its patron San Isidro Labrador.
The parish will receive the relic to coincide with the culmination of the 400th anniversary of the canonization of the well venerated saint, said parish priest Fr. Francis Eugene Fadul
San Isidro Labrador Parish (Facebook) “Relics are a sacramental help in the growth of the Christian life. It is a reminder of the life and holiness of San Isidro that the faithful must emulate,” said Fr. Fadul over Radio Veritas. The San Isidro Labrador Parish will receive the first class relic, a piece of skin from the saint’s incorrupt body, as it prepares for its 25th founding anniversary in 2025. “It is an opportune time for the community to know more about its patron saint and learn how to fulfill God’s will through his example. Since the parish is among the few chosen to receive the relics, it is indeed an honor. It is the presence of the saint amid our community. It will establish a spiritual tie between the Real Colegiata Iglesia de San Isidro in Madrid, Spain where his body lies and our parish,” said Fr. Fadul. The incorrupt remains of San Isidro was opened for public veneration on May 22 to 29 last year in Madrid, Spain in observance of the 400th year of his canonization. “For us, San Isidro is not just a patron of the farmers. He is also a model father and husband. Since our community is no longer farmland because of the emergence of industrial parks and real estate development, our parish is shifting its focus to the family. Thus, the family of San Isidro is a perfect model of the holiness of Christian homes,” said Fr. Fadul. Also known as Saint Isidore the Farmer, the popular saint is venerated as the patron saint of farmers.
