Phivolcs: Magnitude 5.8 quake hits waters off Davao Occidental
An earthquake with a magnitude measuring 5.8 jolted waters off Davao Occidental, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Friday, April 21.

The epicenter of the quake was traced 292 kilometers (km) southeast of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental. Phivolcs said it occured around 6:21 p.m. on Friday. It was tectonic in origin. No damage is expected due to this seismic event, but state seismologists warned that aftershocks may occur.
